Watermark AcquiresClearwater Construction

January 8, 2017 – Laconia NH- Paul Goodwin, principle of Watermark Marine Systems, LLC, is excited to announce the recent acquisition of the Gilford NH business Clearwater Construction, LLC.  This acquisition has been accomplished through a merger of ownership of Watermark and Clearwater welcoming Matthew and Jodie Gallant as partners under the parent company Watermark Marine Systems, LLC.

Watermark’s acquisition of this Lakes Region business will broaden the level of services and products provided across the lakes region – servicing all shorefront homeowners, property owners and boater’s needs at any level in marine supply, docks, boatlifts, shoreline construction and now residential construction and remodeling, as well as continuing to provide the highest levels of subcontracting services to the Lakes Region’s premier builders.

This acquisition and merger has been under discussion since 2015 when it was established that the foundation of philosophy each business operates was completely aligned. Bringing together the experience of all partners allows a more rounded management team for Watermark Marine Systems, LLC to grow, service and delivery more for the benefit of our valued clients and customers. "Clearwater Construction" will operate as a "dba" of Watermark Marine Systems, LLC along with "Watermark Marine Construction" and "Watermark Marine Supply".  Matt Gallant became the "General Manager" of operations for all the companies effective at the first of the year, 2017.

SwiftShield - Sunstream's Newest Product Line

Posted Mar 02, 2015

We are excited to announce the official launch of SunStream's new SwiftShield™ product line, including the fully automatic "A" series and semi-automatic "S" series.

Imagine covering and uncovering boats in seconds, and giving boats complete protection from the elements. No more hassling with multiple covers and painful snaps. No more hulls fading from the sun or needing to clean off debris from birds or insects. No more dreading the need to go back out to your boat and put the cover on at the end of the day.

With the "S" series you just unroll the cover from the front of the SwiftShield™, drape it over the boat and the system cinches it tight with the push of a button. The "S" series is the most versatile cover system in the industry working on all existing Sunstream lift products and virtually all other manufacturers lifts.

With canopies not allowed in many areas and canopies blocking many expensive waterfront views, the new SwiftShield™ boat protection system will open up new opportunities for all Sunstream dealers and give you another competitive advantage.

Orders being taken for delivery throughout the first quarter and full production scheduled for April 2015.

Lakes Region’s Only Local Hovie Stand Up Paddleboard Dealer

Posted Jul 17, 2013

Watermark Marine’s retail operation is in full swing offering boating products such as; docks, boatlifts, marine hardware, life jackets, mooring whips, swim rafts, lines, moorings, paddles, flagpoles, and other marine gear and accessories. And now, Watermark is the exclusive local dealer for Hovie Stand Up Paddleboards (SUP), one of the summer’s hottest items.

After some research, itwas obvious to Paul Goodwin, owner of Watermark Marine Construction, to addstand up paddleboards (SUP) to his store;Hovie brand was just the line Paul wanted to carry.  Hovie SUP says“Paddle For Life” - We believe stand up paddlingis one of the purest forms of exercise and using the sport of Stand Up Paddlingfor exercise will give you balance, strengthen your core, provide a tranquil workout, and will make you a stronger person in every aspect of yourlife.  “The Hovie business philosophy more than matches the LakesRegion philosophy of waterfront living” states Goodwin.

Goodwin had worked closely withthe Hovie company to ensure that the SCOUT SUP model availableat Watermark Marine is the best available for the Lakes Region lifestyle and use.  Offering the Hovie SCOUT at theMeredith location is exciting as this SUP is a very stable flatwater touringboard, made of Rotomolded Polyethylene plastic, which equals the durability ofa kayak, but with the performance of a SUP.  100% recyclable and madein the USA, this particular SUP isversatile and a perfect fit for many interests; all around paddling, touring, andSUP fishing…it’s durability around the waterfront will insure a long productlife and years of enjoyment for friends andfamily.

Stop by Watermark Marinein Meredith – one mile north of Funspot, to see the Hovie SCOUT stand uppaddleboards today.

Watermark Marine Expands with the Acquisition of Meredith Based Company – Production Trailer & Dock

Posted Mar 22, 2013

Laconia, NH – Watermark Marine’s vision to expand their marine related business exploded earlier this year with the purchase of the property on Union Avenue in Laconia, which has become known as “Old Burger King”.  Ultimately, this purchase launched many ideas for business expansion and opportunity to extend related lines of business not only with new retail space, but also continued growth of the dock and shoreline services given direct access to Lake Winnipesaukee.  Paul Goodwin, principle of Watermark Marine Systems, was excited to announce the recent acquisition of the Meredith NH businesses, “Production Trailer & Dock” and “Central NH Divers”.

Goodwin started discussions this spring with Howard Richards, owner of Production Trailer & Dock and Central NH Divers.  A buy-out agreement, whereby Richards will become the Retail Manager at Watermark, presented itself as a perfect fit not only for the launch of Watermark Marine Supply on Union Ave, but also for Richards given his extensive knowledge and vast experience in the dock and boating business.  “Howie’s retail experience and long term knowledge of boating and marine goods is ideal for our market area and will be instrumental in the growth and success that we are planning for the new Watermark Marine Supply,” shared Goodwin.  Additionally, Production Trailer & Dock’s existing dock and boatlift service will add to current Watermark shoreline construction and service operations.  “We have been working cooperatively for a number of years when Paul and I started discussing the possibilities of working together full-time.  It is exciting to become part of the Watermark team and I look forward to the full-line offerings our combined companies can provide,” conveyed Richards.

Watermark’s purchase of these Lakes Region businesses will broaden the level of services and products they provide across the lakes region – servicing all shorefront owner and boater’s needs at any level in marine supply, docks, boatlifts, and shoreline construction.   Renovations are presently underway at the 1218 Union Avenue location, with the Grand Opening scheduled for spring 2013.  The Rte. 3 Meredith location, where Production Trailer & Dock resides today, is where Watermark will operate for the winter until completion of the new “Ships Store” on Union Avenue.  Central NH Divers will also make the move to the new retail store.  The acquisition of this local competitor will offer an expanded line of high quality products and services that Watermark customers have grown to expect and enjoy over the past 20 years.

GOT PERMITS?

Posted Mar 20, 2013

One of the most frequent questions I am asked is “Do I need a permit?”

There are no quick and easy answers but most work in the water will require a NH DES Wetlands Bureau permit. Projects such as re-decking a dock, replacing a tie post, or installing a swim ladder do not need a permit. Work such as piling replacement, crib reconstruction, or structure modifications will require a permit. The real issue at hand is not usually if a permit is needed, but rather what type of permit is required.

The simplest permit to obtain is a “Seasonal Dock Notification” which can only be used in limited circumstances for the purpose of quickly installing a single seasonal dock. These are typically used by homeowners on undeveloped lots as there is no real approval review or permit package requirements. These can only be used under extremely limited circumstances with no existing shoreline structures.

The next level of permit is a “Permit By Notification”, commonly known as a “PBN” permit, which is limited in scope to certain minimal projects and repairs, but allows for a relatively quick turn-around of either 10 days, if signed by the local conservation commission, or 21 days, if not. Unfortunately, the application documentation and paperwork requirements are the same as a standard permit so although the permit review time-frame is quick, the process of preparing the permit can be quite involved and doesn’t save any time, effort, or costs. In our office we frequently use this process for dock repairs, especially if there is past permit history at the site. There is no formal permit issued under this process and the notification simply shows up on the NH DES website as “accepted”. These permits are supposed to be registered with the local Registry of Deeds Office, but they do not accept web-based printouts of the “accepted” database. In order to comply, we post a copy of the database page on site as our permit document.

Up a level is the “Minimum Impact Expedited” process which is, again, limited in scope to a list of allowed projects but must be signed by the local conservation commission before submittal. The NH DES review time-frame for Expedited permits is 30 days after receipt. As the process of seeking Cons. Comm. Sign-off up front can be difficult due to limited meeting schedules and part-time membership of many local Cons. Comm.’s, in our office we seldom use this process. This type of permit never gets submitted to NH DES if the Cons. Comm. does not sign-off.

All projects that do not meet the above requirements for submittal require completion of the “Standard Dredge and Fill” application. While it is not clear by its name, this is the permit process for many dock and shoreline structure projects. NH DES has 75 days after receipt to review a Standard permit application. All approved permits for shoreline structures must be registered with the local Registry of Deeds Office before they are valid, with a copy submitted back to NH DES for their files.

The best way to find out what you need is to call our office for a no obligation site visit. Remember permit preparation and review can take some time so plan ahead! Got Permits?
